A dance drama re-imagining of the science fiction classic, as only Green T could devise.
“2001: A Space Odyssey” chronicles the evolution of human intelligence and asks the question: What is next? At the dawn of humanity a mysterious monolith lands near a group of pre-human apes and ignites the spark of creativity by introducing them to tools. Four million years later, the development of humans and technology has allowed scientists to uncover another monolith on the moon. The second monolith sends a signal to Jupiter. Astronauts Frank Poole and Dave Bowman follow the signal in the hopes of discovering the monolith’s origin. Along the way Bowman learns the limitations of technology and takes the next step in the evolution of the human mind.
Green T Productions dramatizes this science fiction epic by drawing upon ancient storytelling techniques. The ensemble creates the worlds of “2001” through a combination of stylized and natural movement and voice.
